News from the Eastern 1 Region
Shawn Towle, Eastern 1 Regional Director
Fall 2018
Greetings to all NCSM members from Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont!
Fall is a busy season in Eastern Region 1. Our calendars fill up with professional learning opportunities and opportunities to collaborate as mathematics education leaders. I’m excited to have recently taken part in the first 2018-2019 session of the Mt. Holyoke Mathematics Coaching PLC. It was recommended to me by Maine NCSM Team Leader Jenny Jorgensen and my first experience did not disappoint!
Sessions are organized by a team of NCSM member Mike Flynn, Polly Wagner, and Marta Garcia. The PLC meets throughout the year for live, interactive learning via Zoom, a video conferencing platform. Each session is facilitated by one or more of the community members and involves small group and whole group interactions. Sessions are recorded and made available for members within a few days of each session so you need not be available for the live session to be part of this community. Links to the videos, articles, and other resources pertinent to each session are shared with group members.
If this sounds of interest to you, you can sign up here: Virtual Coaching PLC Registration. All session are from 6:30 – 7:30 PM ET:
September 27 | October 25 | December 6 |
January 24 | February 28 | March 21 |
April 25 | May 23 |
Hope to see you at the monthly sessions! I’m including this as part of my professional learning plan for the year and it might be something many of you are interested in as well.
