Teams are especially encouraged to attend, as the Summer Academy provides an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate on site work to identify next steps for coaching goals for the 2021-2022 school year.

• Teams of teachers and leaders will find the academy especially powerful.
• Team registration rates provide a perfect incentive for teams to attend.
• Every individual will leave inspired, motivated, and prepared for 2021-2022
• Academy presenters will provide the guidance, time, and tools for teams (and individuals) to work together to create school wide visions and plans for math instruction.
• While everyone will leave the academy with a plan tailored to implement change, teams will leave with a common plan they can implement together.

Registration Payment Options

You may pay for registration by check, purchase order, or credit card: MasterCard, Visa, or Discover. You may only use a check or Purchase Order if you are mailing your registration by way of the US Mail. Please note: If registering by purchase order, payment is due one week prior to the academy you plan to attend. NCSM does not accept purchase orders for membership dues.

NCSM academies do fill completely before deadlines, so register promptly. NCSM will accept registrations on a space available basis.

Registration Confirmation

You will receive an email confirmation, which will serve as a receipt, if you’ve included an email address in your profile. Allow 2-3 weeks for processing. Registration becomes effective only when payment is received. If you have not received your registration confirmation within a week of the academy you’ve registered for, call NCSM Office at (303) 317-6595.

Login instructions and the link for the virtual seminar will be distributed during the week prior to the scheduled event.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Virtual Seminars registration is nonrefundable. If you miss any sessions they will be recorded and made available to you.

Mona Toncheff

Mona Toncheff, an education consultant and author, worked as both a mathematics teacher and as a mathematics specialist for the Phoenix Union High School District in Arizona. In the latter role, she coached and provided professional development to high school teachers and administrators related to quality mathematics teaching and learning and working in effective collaborative teams. She currently serves as a supervisor teacher for the University of Arizona Teach Program.

Mona has supervised the culture change from teacher isolation to professional learning communities, creating articulated standards and relevant district common assessments and providing ongoing professional development on best practices, equity and access, technology, response to intervention, high-quality grading practices, and assessment for learning.

As a writer and consultant, Mona works with educators and leaders nationwide to build collaborative teams, empowering them with effective strategies for aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure all students receive high-quality mathematics instruction.

Mona is the current resident of NCSM – Leadership in Mathematics Education and has served NCSM in the roles of secretary (2007-2008), director of Western Region 1 (2012-2015), Second Vice-President (2015-2016), First Vice President (2016-2017), Marketing and E-news Editor (2017-2018), and President-elect (2018-2019). In addition to her work with NCSM, Mona has served as the president of Arizona Mathematics Leaders (2016-2018) and is the current past-president. She was named 2009 Phoenix Union High School District Teacher of the Year and in 2014, she received the Copper Apple Award for leadership in mathematics from the Arizona Association of Teachers of Mathematics.

Mona earned a bachelor of science from Arizona State University and a master of education in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University.

Georgina Rivera

Georgina Rivera is a Dean of Students for a Pre-K through Eighth Grade School, and a former Elementary STEM Supervisor, District Wide Math Coach, and started her career as a Middle School Mathematics teacher. She provides professional development and coaching focused on high quality math instruction, building professional learning teams, and culturally relevant math practices. During her coaching roles, she also served on school leadership teams to help develop a vision around mathematics instruction, create action steps for improving math instruction and monitored student progress through the use of common formative and summative assessments. She created the mathematics model for collaboration and coaching that is currently being used across her district in order to improve mathematics teaching and learning.

In addition to her work in the district she has presented at NCSM, NCTM, ATOMIC, Trinity College and Central Connecticut State University on mathematics teaching and learning in elementary school. She is an author and on the mathematics advisory board for Ed Reports. She was the recipient of the Bristol Teacher of the Year award and the first recipient of the Charlene Tate-Nichols award for contributions to mathematics education in the state of Connecticut. She is also on the NCSM- Leadership in Mathematics Education board as the Professional Learning Director (2019-2021).

Georgina earned a bachelor of science in elementary education, a master’s in math education and a masters in math educational leadership all from Central Connecticut State University.

Jenny Novak

Jennifer Rose Novak is currently the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Howard County Public Schools in Maryland. As curriculum director, she provides leadership in the implementation of standards-based curriculum, instruction, and professional learning for teachers and administrators. In her twenty years of service in public education, Jenny has served as a mathematics teacher, instructional coach, curriculum developer, author, and mathematics coordinator in Howard County, as well as a mathematics education associate for the Delaware Department of Education.

Supporting teacher growth and leadership development through coaching and professional learning is a passion for Jenny. She has designed and delivered a variety of professional learning experiences to support mathematics leaders, coaches, and administrators as critical leaders in mathematics education. She has also served as an adjunct professor for graduate courses for mathematics instructional leadership at McDaniel College and UMBC.

Jenny has served on a number of organizational boards, including MATHCOUNTS (2016-2019), the Delaware Mathematics Coalition (2016-2018), and the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (2009-present), for which she served as president (2015-2017). She is currently serving as one of the NCSM Professional Learning Directors (2019-2021).

Jenny earned a bachelor of science in mathematics with a concentration in secondary education from Towson University, and a masters in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College.
