Greetings to all NCSM members from Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont! Here are some news items from our mathematics organizations and a few suggestions as we begin another school year.

NCSM Fall Leadership Seminar – November 29
Mark your calendars for great events that are coming up! The NCSM Fall Leadership Seminar, Leading for Equity and Social Justice in Mathematics, will be held on November 29, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois.
Associated Teachers of Mathematics in Connecticut (ATOMIC)
On December 4, 2017, ATOMIC will host their Annual Conference and Meeting, "Talking About Mathematics: Putting the Focus on Students’ Lasting Learning" The event will feature Cathy Seeley delivering a keynote address entitled "Who’s Doing the Talking? Using Student Conversation to Drive Mathematical Learning." Registration is now open on their website.
Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State (AMTNYS)
AMTNYS will be hosting their 67th Annual Fall Conference in Buffalo, NY on November 3-4, 2017. The theme is "Full Steam Ahead! Gateway to Success, Achievement, Change, Empowerment, and Critical Thinking in Mathematics " and will feature keynotes and breakout sessions led by Ron Larson and Bill Hanlon. There is a preliminary program available on their website.
Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Maine (ATOMIM)
ATOMIM is gearing up for a year of professional learning featuring an online book study (November 2 through Marhc 2) of Becoming the Math Teacher You Wish You’d Had: Ideas and Strategies from Vibrant Classrooms. The book study will start with dine and discuss sessions available throughout the state in October. Later in the year, ATOMIM will be hosting a spring conference in two locations to reach more mathematics teachers. On March 3rd and on March 17th in Portland, Tracy Zager will be the keynote speaker to celebrate the book study.
Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Massachusetts (ATMIM)
ATMIM is the host of the upcoming ATMNE conference in November. ATMNE 2017: Common Sense Mathematics. The conference will feature Eric Milou, Tracy Zager, Grace Kelemanik and Steve Leinwand along with many speakers from all over New England. Registration is open and a mini-program book is now available on the ATMNE website.
The Association of Teachers of Mathematics in New England (ATMNE)
The ATMNE Annual Conference will be held this year in Marlborough, MA at the Royal Plaza Hotel and Trade Center on November 2-3, 2017. This annual meeting brings together all 6 New England Affiliates and will be hosted this year, by the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Massachusetts (ATMIM). The opening address will be given by Dr. Eric Milou of Rowan University with two lunch keynote speakers, Tracy Zager and Steve Leinwand. It is shaping up to be another fantastic New England Conference! Registration is open!
New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics (NHTM)
NHTM will be joining the other New England ATMNE affiliates in Marlborough, MA for the ATMNE Annual Fall conference. On their website, they are currently soliciting ideas for regional book studies. Go offer your suggestions!
New York State Association of Mathematics Supervisors (NYSAMS)
NYSAMS will hold the New York State Mathematics Educators Hall of Fame Dinner and the NYSAMS Leadership Summit will be held at the Adams Mark Hotel and Conference Center in Buffalo on Thursday November 2, 2017, the day before the AMTNYS Conference (November 3-4)
Rhode Island Mathematics Teachers Association (RIMTA)
RIMTA will be hosting their wildly popular 3rd Trivia Night on Thursday, November 9 at Doherty’s Ale House in Warwick, RI. For more information, check out the RIMTA website.
Vermont Council of Teachers of Mathematics (VCTM)
VCTM will be holding their Annual Fall conference on Monday, October 16 at Saint Michael’s College. Early registration is now open!
